These are some of the students from Ban Khun Samut School. They are doing handicraft during special lessons on Saturday. The school has 30 students and three teachers.

นักเรียนโรงเรียนบ้านขุนสมุทรกำลังทำงานประดิษฐ์ในชั่วโมงกิจกรรมพิเศษในวันเสาร์   โรงเรียนมีนักเรียน 30 คน และครูเพียง 3 คน 

This is the second location for the school. They had to move here in 1982.  The previous school, which dates back to 1955, is now in the sea. The only visible landmark is the concrete water tank which you can see at high tide. The new school is built on stilts further inland. However, the sea has already reached them at high tide. They are also fighting a battle on a second front. In the picture on the right you can see that termites are eating away at the support poles. 

นี่เป็นรูปของโรงเรียนหลังที่สองของโรงเรียนบ้านขุนสมุทร (ก่อสร้างครั้งแรกเมื่อ 27 กันยายน 2498 ) ได้ย้ายมาสร้างขึ้นใหม่  (ปีพ.ศ. 2525) หลังจากที่โรงเรียนหลังเก่าถูกน้ำทะเลท่วมจมอยู่ในทะเล  สิ่งที่พอจะเห็นเป็นสัญลักษณ์ได้เวลาที่น้ำขึ้น ก็คือแท็งก์น้ำคอนกรีต  โรงเรียนหลังใหม่นี้สร้างบนเสาสูงลึกเข้ามาในพื้นที่ด้านใน (บริจาคที่ดินจำนวน 6 ไร่ 2 งาน 25 ตารางวาโดยนายสนม และ นางสวาด รอดสา)   อย่างไรก็ตาม น้ำทะเลก็ได้ท่วมเข้ามาถึงอาคารเรียนแล้วในเวลาที่น้ำขึ้นสูง  ขณะนี้คณะครู  ผู้ปกครอง และนักเรียนทุกคนกำลังพยายามต่อสู้กับภัยธรรมชาติอีกครั้งหนึ่ง ในภาพด้านขวามือท่านจะเห็นส่วนที่ปลวกกำลังเกาะกินเสาซึ่งเป็นที่ตั้งของอาคารเรียน

As there isn't enough specialist teachers, the students learn some of their lessons via the Distance Learning Foundation which uses satellite and televisions.  The television on the right is used by Primary 6 which only has two students.

เนื่องจากโรงเรียนมีครูผู้สอนวิชาพิเศษต่างๆไม่เพียงพอ นักเรียนจึงต้องเรียนผ่านสถานีวิทยุโทรทัศน์การศึกษาทางไกลผ่านดาวเทียม  โทรทัศน์ที่เห็นในภาพได้ใช้สำหรับให้นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ซึ่งมีเพียง 2 คน ได้เรียนรู้วิชาต่างๆ 

These two pictures from Google Earth shows how near the school is to the sea. The old school was located just south of Wat Khun Samut. It was then brought inland. However, it is again in danger of being consumed by the sea. 

ทั้ง 2 รูปภาพจากกูเกิลเอิร์ธแสดงให้เห็นว่าโรงเรียนอยู่ใกล้ทะเลเพียงใด  จะเห็นว่าโรงเรียนหลังเก่าตั้งอยู่ทางด้านใต้ของวัดขุนสมุทร  แล้วได้ย้ายเข้ามาสร้างใหม่ในพื้นที่ด้านใน อย่างไรก็ตามโรงเรียนก็ยังตกอยู่ในอันตรายที่จะถูกน้ำท่วมโรงเรียนอีกครั้งหนึ่ง ซึ่งพวกเราทุกคนจึงควรช่วยกันเท่าที่จะช่วยได้ให้มากที่สุด
