Today, I went to visit Ban Khun Samut School together with two English teachers from Sriwittayapaknam School. We had volunteered to teach English to the students for the day. We arrived at the school in time for the morning assembly. It was high tide, and as the playground was flooded, the students had to sing the national anthem standing outside their classrooms.

There are 30 students in the school from Kindergarten to Primary 6. The students share three classes. The picture to the left are students from Kindergarten 1-3. On th right are students from Primary 1-3.

The students in this picture are, from left to right, Primary 6, Primary 5 and Primary 4. The school has three teachers. The principal is pictured above. As they are not qualified to teach every subject, the students watch live pictures on the television of classrooms in a school in Hua Hin. Lessons like Science and English they learn with teachers who are hundreds of miles away. Their classmates are scattered around hundreds of schools all over Thailand.

The Kindergarten teacher, above, doubles as the school cook. The principal has to teach her class while she cooks lunch. After lunch, the Primary 6 students clear away and wash up the dirty pans and dishes.

In these pictures, Debbie and Simone are teaching the Primary 4-6 students. We taught them some songs and played some games with them. I think everyone had fun. We certainly did and we will be going back again soon.
